The Missing Cross to Purity

When he appears, we shall be like him,
for we shall see him as he is.
Everyone who has this hope in him
purifies himself, just as he is pure.
1 John 3:2-3
Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they shall see God. Mat 5:8
And this is the will of Him that sent me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes on him, may have everlasting life,
John 6:40
Your covenant with death will be annulled,
and your agreement with hell will not stand.
Isa 28:18
For God has not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
1 Thes 4:7
Without holiness, no one will see the Lord.
Heb 12:14
Those who are living the life of the flesh
cannot please or satisfy God, or be acceptable to Him.
Rom 8:8
Those who belong to Christ Jesus
have crucified the flesh
(the godless human nature)
with its passions and appetites and desires.
Gal 5:24
Most who claim to be Christians would have a Christ
who excuses them to do nothing; a pearl of little price.
The few Christians committed to truth would have the Christ
to change them to live pleasing to God, whatever the price.

  1. Your title here caught my attention; it’s a phrase used by George Fox.

    Thanks for the scriptures.

While I agree with your call to live a life pleasing to God, I tend to put my emphasis on the Christ part. It’s not like there’s Christ with the ticket into heaven that I take but then refuse to do anything and desire to do nothing. No – it’s His great love for me that drew me to Him. It’s the Jesus of the gospels who constantly draws me to desire to get to spend time with Him…Who, when in His presence, I recognize the depths of my depravity…Who, as I read about Him in the Word, a new vision of how life can be lived calls out to me…
